Bisnaga é uma tipografia experimental produzida durante o primeiro semestre de 2024 na disciplina de Tipografia do Curso de pós-graduação em Design Gráfico-UFRGS. A proposta do projeto era criar uma fonte reduzida de 26 caracteres e, por isso, só possui as letras maiúsculas (pelo menos por enquanto).
A ideia inicial surgiu do interesse de pesquisar e analisar graficamente como a tinta se comporta como recurso tipográfico analógico e, ao mesmo tempo, moderno. E então surgiu o questionamento: como acontece o cruzamento entre arte e design no universo tipográfico? Pensando nos recursos e materiais possíveis para responder a essa pergunta, me surgiram as tintas a óleo que herdei de minha avó, que era artista plástica. Esse material sempre foi familiar; manuseá-lo de uma maneira investigativa foi o grande convite.
Desse modo, a Bisnaga foi criada para representar o aspecto maleável da tinta, que é tantas possibilidades em um mesmo material. As combinações apresentadas surgiram de uma processo experimental, intuitivo e também por isso, assertivo. Cada letra partiu de uma escolha e é isso que faz desse alfabeto uma memória coletiva, minha e da vó.

Bisnaga is an experimental typography produced during the first semester of 2024 in the Typography discipline of the Postgraduate Course in Graphic Design-UFRGS. The project proposal was to create a reduced font of 26 characters and, therefore, only has capital letters (at least for now).
The initial idea arose from the interest in researching and graphically analyzing how ink behaves as an analog and, at the same time, modern typographic resource. And then the question arose: how does the intersection between art and design happen in the typographic universe? Thinking about possible resources and materials to answer this question, I came up with oil paints that I inherited from my grandmother, an artist. This material has always been familiar; handling it in an investigative way was a big invitation.
Therefore, the Bisnaga was created to represent the malleable aspect of paint, which offers many possibilities in the same material. The combinations presented emerged from an experimental, intuitive, and therefore assertive process. Each letter came from a choice, making this alphabet a collective memory, mine and grandma's.
